The SituationIn Fort Lauderdale (33301), a two-car door needed a pre-season tune-up and verification of struts/fasteners for storm readiness.
On-Site Diagnosis
Minor fastener corrosion; one mid-span strut under-rated.
Springs slightly out of balance; opener chain loose.
Bottom seal hardened and leaking.
What We Did
Replaced the under-rated strut and upgraded corroded fasteners to coastal-grade hardware.
Rebalanced springs, set opener force/travel, and performed UL 325 tests.
Installed a new bottom seal and cleaned/inspected tracks (left dry).
Documented design pressures and labeled hardware for inspection.
Scheduled a mid-season check to maintain performance.
Parts & Specs
Reinforcement strut, coastal-grade fasteners, bottom seal, opener service kit.
Compliance & Safety
Procedures aligned with HVHZ best practices; photos and torque logs filed.
OutcomeA tighter, safer door with correct reinforcement, ready for summer storms.
Homeowner Feedback
“Quick, thorough, and very professional. We’re ready for the season.”
